How do I get my site to show up on search engines?

You can submit your site to the most important search engines yourself using the submission links below. Google and Bing currently account for 98% of all web search traffic. Ask gets around 1.5% and the remaining .5% is shared by hundreds of lesser-known search engines. Submission to Google and Bing is not necessary as they regularly crawl the Web to find sites automatically, however, use of both of their free webmaster tools are highly encouraged for the best results.

How long it takes to show up on a specific search engine varies from a few weeks to a few months. To see if your site has been crawled, go to each search engine's home page and enter your domain name (i.e. mysite.com) in the search field. If your site has been crawled, your pages will be listed in the search results.
